Laser hair removal is the deliberate removal of body hair generally grows all over the human body, some fine and barely noticeable, with other areas having thicker, more prominent hair. Thick hair can often be in unwanted places or too excessive. Laser hair removal is directed towards the removal of such hair. Laser hair removal works by targeting the hair follicle with laser light. This energy damages and goes on to destroy the hair follicle, thus stopping the follicle from producing further hairs. The laser delivers an intense beam of light, which is absorbed by the hair follicle, whilst the surrounding tissue remains unaffected.

During laser hair removal, a laser beam passes through the skin to an individual hair root and follicle. The intense heat of the laser is transferred to the hair root and damages the hair follicle, which inhibits future hair growth. Laser hair removal is the most effective and less painful than traditional hair removal methods. Although laser hair removal effectively slows hair growth, it's not a guarantee for permanent hair removal. It usually takes multiple sessions of laser hair removal treatments to achieve a long-lasting hair-free period. Periodic maintenance sessions might be needed as well.
